Hard Fought 2nd place for LSC at 1st 06/07 Speedo meet

The LSC team fought hard to secure a good 2nd place at Saturday's first round Speedo league meet in Oxford. Here's the full press report: Speedo Round 1

The Men's Open Free squadron event was a tour de force of LSC power! Having Matt Kidd as the anchor man seemed to relax the squad, helping them to swim all the better. I don't have the splits, but suffice it to say they won by nearly 25m. Here's a pic of the squad (members site)

LSC Past & Present Biathle stars

Biathle (aka Swim/Run/Swim) is a back to back biathlon event where competitors complete in effect 3 races in 1. Distances vary with the age of the competitor with the events tending to be sprints rather than endurance based.

LSC has a strong tradition in this form of racing and Sophie Storey (NDS) is carrying it forward for the younger members of the club.

Sophie performed brilliantly to come 1st in the regional schools SE event and a fantastic fourth place in the National final. Modest Sophie never said much about this but we managed to tease it out of Dad Paul! A quick search on the Modern Pentathlon website confirmed the results!

In order that Sophie might aspire to even greater things: Harriet Hart who was quite a name at LSC (she's now at Loughborough uni.) and her brother Josh (now at EpsomSC) competed in this years Worlds Biathle chapionships in Salford. Harriet was crowned World champion in the Junior Women event, whilst Josh obtained a Bronze medal in the Youth A Boys race. See the following links
