Ealing Open a literal PBAthon!

How many PB's can LSC do in one meet?

This has got to be some sort of record especially at this early stage of the season when the squads are in heavy endurance training (although we've noticed a subtle change to the format in NDS sets of late obviously to good effect).

Check out the LSC results here or get the full SP from the Ealing SC site. It was an excellent meet all round, plenty of high quality competition, lots of space for swimmer and spectator plus a friendly (if cool!) atmosphere

Mini Club Championships round 1

LSC’s mini champs got off to a great start with some excellent performances by our talented younger swimmers, many of who were competing for the first time.
The event is run exactly the same as any gala that the children may enter and equips them for the challenge. Much was learned on the night such as handing in your event cards before the start, being “whipped” (called for your race!), and that you sometimes swim against people older than you, or from another squad. Coping with being disqualified for rule infringements is hard but is all part of the process and happens to everyone at some point in their swimming career, even, no doubt the magnificent Ian Thorpe! (DQ’s can be explained to swimmers at training, as usually the reason will be written on the card, which is returned to their coaches)

Special thanks must go to Lesley Shields, and her merry band of helpers, who worked so hard to organise the event (voluntarily! Come on mums and dads-get involved!)
Also to all the officials who give up their time so readily, and so often, to help; without them it could not take place and the recorded times would not be legal. As it is, any recorded time can be used as an entry time to other galas.

Swimming in a competition like this equips the children with so many lifetime skills, discipline in training, determination to always do your best, being part of a team, keeping fit and healthy and boosting self-esteem; best of all –WINNING! Which is what ALL LSC swimmers do best!

We eagerly look forward to this weekend’s session, where more medals will be presented by our very own Olympian, Matt Kidd and Lauren Parsons –NDS team captain.

Good Luck to all those taking part!

LSC Victorious at 2nd Round Speedo

Leatherhead SC led from the start at last night's 2nd round Speedo league - held at Magnet leisure centre in Maidenhead. With strong opposition (particularly from Bexley), the team were determined and put on a fantastic display of 'strength in depth' performances - the key to Speedo.
There were many great swims which I'm sure the official report will acknowledge!

The team posted a warning to the other Southern region teams with their great drive and enthusiastic support (from both swimmer and parent alike!) that they are a force to be reckoned with.

The evening was, yet again, topped off with a perfect performance from the 6*50M mens open freestyle relay squadron - is there anyone out there who can stop them??

November 100 Club

This month's 100 club number was drawn by Alex Wells (Dolphin squad Coach Meister). As you can see Alex tried to confuse us by wearing a top with another number on it (you can click on the pic to see Alex + number full size - well almost, he's too big to fit in a computer!). undaunted we say this month's winning number is 72. The Owner? Maria Noorland! Congratulations!
