Will we, won't we? WE WILL!

After several nail biting days - the news is finally out. To see Speedo finalists click here

LSC will be going to the 2007 Speedo finals in Sheffield for the 2nd consecutive year!

It was well known that it would be a huge ask to expect the predominantly young team (with many swimming out of their age groups and/or being young within their age group) to achieve this. But achieve they did, scoring a huge number of personal bests (and several club records) in the final regional round where we finished in a tantalising 3rd place out of the 18 competing clubs.

Representation from the South East and London region will be very strong this year.

I believe the rules by which the finalists were selected will be a specialist subject on Mastermind this coming season! But however this was worked out, the fact that we will have 20 teams competing in the A & B finals can only add to the already breathtaking atmosphere.

IT'S BEHIND YOU.....!!!!!

Tuesday night was Panto time!
Oh no it wasn't-oh yes it was!
A group of 40 swimmers, siblings, parents, nans and cousins went to Wimbledon theatre on the 12th to see Peter Pan starring Henry Winkler and Bobby Davro.
The Fonze was wasted on the kids but, those of us of a certain age certainly enjoyed his performance!
Our youngest member,Jamie Cooke was enthralled by it all but the highlight had to be Tony Grahams delight at the goings on of Davro in a kangaroo suit-don't ask!!!
It was a really great night out and got the festive season off to a good start so we will definitely go again next year;thanks to everyone who supported the trip.
Then ,Thursday night was Chinese night! A group of NDS and IDS parents-and Grant Robes brother Scott!-met at the China Red restaurant in Leatherhead for some festive fayre. Another great social event, arranged by Julie Parsons-more of the same in 2007 please!

Mini Champs Round 2

Round 2 of the Mini Champs, held on Sunday evening, was another excellent event with EVEN younger, and smaller, swimmers taking part this time! Many were nervous about their races, being coached on starts, touches and turns as they approached the blocks but everyone seemed determined and really tried their best. Some were disappointed to be disqualified, others ecstatic at winning their first medal-all important aspects of swimming and equally valuable.
We were in good company as some of our elite, International Development squad attended to support the younger swimmers which was greatly appreciated.Their loud and enthusiastic support scared a few swimmers but, again, is something they have to get used to!!

The evening was concluded with the presentation of the prestigious Top Boy and Girl awards. These are won by those swimmers who accumulate the most points in the gala.
The shields were presented by our Olympian-Matt Kidd and Lauren Parsons- National development squad captain to:

Under 10's-Benjamin King and Eleanor Wilson
Over 10's- Shayeree Davda and Ross McGregor-CONGRATULATIONS!

We wish all swimmers in the speedo squad the very best of luck for next Saturday when they take on "the best of the rest" at the Regional Speedo Final at K2 in Crawley. After 2 league rounds, LSC (currently equal 2nd) is amongst the top 6 competing to represent the South East at the National final next year;this year we participated in the "B" final held at Ponds Forge in Sheffield-a FANTASTIC event, which all our younger swimmers can aspire to! Why not come and watch? It is a great spectacle -all supporters WELCOME!
