"STAY AND SUCCEED,LEAVE AND PERISH!"

The 7th Speedo League final at Pond's Forge,Sheffield took place this weekend and a SUPERB effort was made by both swimmers, and supporters, alike.
Ranked 5th at the start, Leatherhead's speedo team did us all proud by coming 3rd out of 10 clubs-some of whom fielded current International swimmers.
As Sue Philpot commented,"City of Liverpool have over 1000 members,Ealing 900 so, for LSC with it's 260 swimming members, this is a fantastic achievement"
Our own Olympian,Matt Kidd did a splendid job in the final event in the men's squadron, holding off David Davies(GB) of Cardiff City in the last leg to finish first! This magnificent squad - Simon Churchman,Chris Ashton,Will Philpot,Stuart McCrea,David Ashton and Matt have not been beaten in the last two years so we had high expectations and they did not let us down.
However every member of the team played their part by earning valuable points wherever they finished-many achieving PB's in the process. In fact,as Sue Philpot pointed out -had we competed in the "A" final we would have beaten some of those clubs too! A great effort all round!
Thanks must go to Ron and Sue Philpot and Mel Davies who looked after the squad over the weekend plus all the "backroom Staff" who helped with funding all the equipment and arrangements.
As for the supporters...parents,siblings,family and friends were an absolute credit to the club. All entered into the spirit of the pirate themed event and made it a memorable day for everyone by winning the coveted "Best Supporters" title. Check out the photographic evidence!!! (see link)
